1907-1915 survey of entire Yenisey. At start of World War 1 directed construction of a bridge over Vistula near Warsaw. 1918-1928 chief engineer for planning linkage of Volga and Don.
Chief, Centr Technical Water Board, People's Commissariat of Means of Communication. Deputy chairman of its Sciences and Technical Committee. Also active in drafting plan of State Commission for Electrification of Russia.
From 1921 lectured at Moscow higher educational institutions, including Moscow Higher Technical College. 1928 founded, 1928-1930 directed Hydrological and Hydrotech Research Institute, People's Commissariat of Means of Communication. From 1944 chairman, Water Management Section, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences.
Helped compile water survey of Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics. 1947-1949 at same time chairman, Engineer and Construction Section, Hydraulic Engineer Council under Presidium of Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Architecture. Then chairman, Hydraulic Engineer and Power Section, Moscow House of Sciences, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences.
Attended many international hydrological and hydrotech congresses. Author of over 200 sci works.
Honorary member, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Geographical Social.
