1899 graduate Medical Faculty, Moscow University.
1899—1924 worked at Infection Barracks, Pavlov Hospital. 1909 defended doctor’s thesis on the etiology of Oriental sores. Described new acid-resistant bacillus from the tonsillar crypt.
1910-1911 associate professor, Moscow University, where he lectured on the role of pathogenic protozoa in animal and human pathology. 1911 resigned from Moscow University with other professor in protest against the policies of Education Minister Kasso. Did majoT research on malaria.
Appointed chairman, Malaria Commission, Pirogov Social and organized numerous expeditions to study and combat this disease in the Caucasus and on the Black Sea littoral. 1912 founded Caucasian Malaria Committee to combat the disease in the areas of worst infection. After outbreak of World War 1 organized a special detachment to combat typhus, smallpox and cholera in the Caucasus.
1920-1934 founder-director, Tropical Institute (now Martsinovskiy Institute of Malaria, Parasitology and Helminthology). 1924-1930 founder-head, Chair of Infectious Diseases, Moscow University. From 1932 chairman. Learned Council, Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic People's Commissariat of Health.
Member, Moscow City Soviet of several convocations. Editor, journals “Tropicheskaya meditsina”, “Gigiyena i epidemiologiya”, et cetera Member, various Soviet and for sci society
Soviet deleg, International Malaria Commission, League of Nations. Made studies of leishmaniosis, spirochetosis, malaria, arthropodous vectors of diseases affecting man and animals, pyroplasmosis, fungus diseases, typhus, typhoid, tropical diseases, et cetera Wrote over 200 works.
