1896 graduate Saint St. Petersburg Institute of Transport Engineer.
1898—1905 lecturer, Moscow Engineer College. 1905-1938 lecturer, Kiev Polytech Institute. 1921-1932 head, Kiev Bridge-Testing Station.
1930-1935 director, Electrowelding Research Institute, Ukraine Academy of Sciences. 1946-1951 vice-president, Ukraine Academy of Sciences. Until 1929 concentrated on bridge-building, then turned to electrowelding.
Did research on automation of welding processes, flux-welding and strength of welded structures. 1941-1945 directed research on welding of special steels and adoption of new welding methods in defense industry. Designed and supervised construction of first Soviet continuous welding lines and developed technol and equipment for automatic on-site welding.
Developed industry methods for welding pipes, water-mains and storage tanks. 1953 supervised construction of welded bridge over River Dnieper in Kiev. Founder-ed, journal “Avtomaticheskaya svarka”.
