Career
After studies in Educational psychology at the University of Quito, she became involved in environmental issues. At the Rio Earth Summit, she acted as non-governmental organization liaison. From August 1998 to January 2000, she served as Minister of Environment in the government of Ecuador.
From 1996 to 2004, she was president of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (International Union for Conservation of Nature) and since January 2010, she has been president of the World Wide Fund for Nature (World Wildlife Fund).
Kakabadse is an Earth Charter International Commission member.
