Yonah Alexander together with his ancestors emigrated to Mandatory Palestine from the city of Hrodna, which is currently situated on the territory of the western part of Belarus. In 1952 he changed his name from Alexandrowitz.
Education
Professor Yonah Alexander entered Roosevelt University, where he received his Bachelor's in Political Science in 1954. A year after he got his Master's in International Relations from The University of Chicago, and after long years of research and practise he received his PhD in Public Law and Government from Colombia University in 1965.
Professor Yonah Alexander specializes in terrorism. He has a vast research experience. He has served as Research Professor of International Affairs and Visiting Professor of Law in the George Washington University. Yonah Alexander is a Senior Fellow at the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies and Director of its International Center for Terrorism Studies. The professor is also a Research Associate in the School of Journalism at Columbia University, where he's got his doctorate degree.

Professor Alexander taught at the George Washington University, The American University, the Columbus School of Law at Catholic University of America, Tel Aviv University, the City University of New York, and the State University of New York. He combines job at university and research work and has published numerous papers, articles and books. His collection of books on terrorism and related topics includes over 100 volumes, a small number of which is presented below. His works have been translated into more than 25 languages.
Professor was made the Co-Director of the Inter-University Center for Legal Studies and Director of the Inter-University Center for Terrorism Studies. He cooperates with world specialists and works on urgent global issues. He has founded five academic international journals: "Terrorism", "Minorities and Group Rights", "Political Communication and Persuasion", "NATO’s Partnership for Peace Review", "Terrorism: An Electronic Journal & Knowledge Base". Now he is the Editor-in-chief of all these journals, as well as the editor of "Combating Terrorism: Strategies of Ten Countries".
Professor's personal papers and research collection are stored at the Hoover Institution Library and Archives at Stanford University.
