Chang, Yong Keun was born on April 30, 1955 in Seoul, Republic of Korea. Son of Kyung Deuk and Chang Hwan (Yoo).

Research engineer, Korea Institute Science and Technology, Seoul, 1980-1983; postdoctoral researcher, University of California, Irvine, 1987-1988; assistant professor, Korea Advanced Institute Science and Technology, Taejon, 1988-1991; associate professor, Korea Advanced Institute Science and Technology, Taejon, since 1992; research professor, Bioprocess Engineering Research Center, Taejon, since 1990. Member planning committee Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, since 1994. Member consulting committee Research and Development Management Center for Energy and Resources, since 1994.
