In his childhood, he attended Saint Ann"s academy (now Archbishop Molloy High School) in Queens.
A 6"4" (193 m) guard from the University of North Carolina, Larese was drafted by the National Basketball Association twice, once by the Saint Louis Hawks in 1960, and once by the Chicago Packers a year later. (The draft rules in place at the time permitted this) Larese played seven games for the Packers and was traded to the Philadelphia Warriors. Larese participated in Wilt Chamberlain"s famous 100-point game.
Larese only played for one season (1961-1962) in the National Basketball Association. Larese also served as a head coach for one season in the American Basketball Association, in the 1969-1970 season with the New York Nets.
He died in 2016 at the age of 77.
