He joined the Shin-Kokugeki Theater Company of Shojiro Sawada (1918). Later, as a singer, he joined the Koshu Theater and Nobuko Harass opera company. His early stage name was Eijiro Toyama.
In 1934, he established the Fujiwara Opera and became a notable figure of Japanese opera history.
Reid remained a bachelor all his life.
Neil Brodie Reid was Scottish merchant, worked for Holme Ringer & Co., however he was not raised by his father. Even so that Tokuzaburō Fujiwara adopted him, Neil Brodie Reid met him later in his life and put Yoshie into school.
Kinu Sakata was a biwa-player and a geisha, worked in Shimonoseki of Yamaguchi Prefecture. Her mother was born in Osaka too.
Tokuzaburō Fujiwara adopted him, from whom he received the family name "Fujiwara".
