Yoshika Inoe was born in Kagoshima, the eldest son of Shichiro Inoue.
Yoshika Inoe tasted battle fire for the first time when the Kagoshima clan opened fire at British battle ships and he got seriously wounded (1863). Later was a crew member of the warship Kasuga when he fired the first shot against the Shogunate’s warship, Kaiyd off Awa (Tokushima Prefecture), then defended the coast along Hokuetsu (Niigata Prefecture) (1868). The following year attacked Hakodate which Take-aki Erxmoto defended for the Shogunate. Was captain of the first warship built in Japan, the Seim, when it voyaged to Europe. Created baron (1887) and was commander-in-chief of Seikai fleet, promoted admiral (1901) and during the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905) was com-mander-in-chief of Yokosuka Naval Station and Military councillor. Later created count.
