Yoshinaga Kunisawa was born in 1848.
In 1871 Yoshinaga Kunisawa was employed by the Railway Bureau to connect Kobe with Osaka by rail, then in 1878 he was chief engineer in charge of laying the railway line between Kyoto and Otsu and building the Osakayama Tunnel. He also helped in laying the Tokaido and Shin-etsu lines, besides being chief engineer of Sobu Railway Co. Thereafter in 1900 Yoshinaga Kunisawa was head of Hokkaido section of Railway Department, and after retiring from government service in 1905 became president of Sapporo Construction Co.
