In 1930 Yoshio Kuriyama graduated from Electricity Department of Hamamatsu Higher Technical School.
Yoshio Kuriyama served as engineer and section chief of various electric power companies and lecturer of Nagoya School of Electricity.
He served as a chairman of Special Committee for Electric Power at the 8th and 12th Diet sessions.
Yoshio Kuriyama participated in labor movement and became the first chairman of Chubu (Central Japan) Electric Power Distribution Company Workers’ Union and chairman of Densan (Japan Electric Industry Workers’ Union). Since1847 was twice elected to House of Councilors and became chairman of Standing Committee for Labor of House of Councilors in 1953.
