Yoshio Takahashi was a Japanese businessman and tea-ceremony master.

Background

Yoshio Takahashi was born in 1861, the fourth son of Tsunehiko Takahashi of the Mito Clan Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan.

Education

He graduated from Keio University (1882).

Career

He joined Jiji Shimpo (newspaper), then joined Mitsui Bank on the invitation of Hikojiro Kawakami (1891). Later became director of Mitsui Department Store. Then successively became director of Mitsui Mining Company, managing director of Oji Paper Mills and of Kuratani Mining Company. His works include Taisho Meiki Kan (On Masterpieces of Tea Ceremony Wares).

Interests

  • After retiring from business life became interested in the art of tea ceremony.
