Yoshio Yamanouchi graduated from Tokyo School of Foreign Languages.
After graduating from Tokyo School of Foreign Languages with a degree in French literature, Yoshio Yamanouchi stayed behind as lecturer. He held a similar position at Kyoto University. He was the professor at Waseda University.
Yoshio Yamanouchi was awarded an Academy prize for his translation of R.M. du Gard's "The Thibaults" (1949). He translated several other French classics and poems, including P. Bourget's "The Disciple" and "Counterfeits" by Side.
