Career

Joined mujahidin troops fighting against Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics occupation forces, 1979—1989. Joint Minister Defence, 1993. Co-founder Defence of the Motherland and United National Islamic Front for Salvation of Afghanistan (Unifsa-Northern Alliance), 1996.

Political head of Northern Alliance's main Jamiat-i Islami party, 2001. Leader Northern Alliance Delaware to Future of Afghanistan Government Talks, Bonn, 2001. Minister of the Interior, Afghan Interim Authority, 2001—2002, if Education, 2002—2004.

Head of Nizzat-i-Milli Party, since 2002. Presidential Candidate, 2004.
