Yu-Jih Liu, Chinese, American engineer. Achievements include development of isolated word recognition system in the environment of aircraft noise; development of speech coder at 400 bps and 600 bps with high intelligibility using the techniques of vector quantization, trellis coding. Liu, Yu-Jih was born on June 2, 1948 in China. Came to the United States, 1971. Son of Tung-Shen and Cha-Ching (Hu) Liu.
