Yugaku Ohara built a lecture hall in Katori District in Shimoosa Province (Chiba Prefecture) and spread a new religion. He had several thousand followers among the local residents. Although his religion improved the morals of the district, the Shogunate suppressed it, imprisoning his disciples. Yiigaku killed himself by committing hara-kiri.
