Yui Ichikawa began her career in the Japanese entertainment industry as a model before expanding her work into acting. Over time she became known for appearing in Japanese television dramas, commonly referred to as doramas, where she developed her early reputation as a screen actress.
Ichikawa later appeared in several film productions. One of her early roles was a minor appearance in the horror film Ju-on: The Grudge. She later reprised the same character in the sequel, Ju-on: The Grudge 2, where her role was expanded.
Yui Ichikawa also portrayed Nana Komatsu, often referred to as “Hachi,” in the film adaptation of the popular Japanese manga Nana. The project brought together a prominent cast that included singer and actress Mika Nakashima. In December 2006, Ichikawa and Nakashima attended the international premiere of Nana 2 in New York City at the International Finance Corporation Center.
