After graduating from Tokyo University in 1929 entered government service.
Came into prominence after the end of World War II when Yuichi Kori executed several postwar reforms, such as revision of local administration system, and compiling names of those to be purged for activities during the war. He was then appointed Governor of Ishikawa Prefecture and was Deputy Chief Secretary in the first and second Yoshida Cabinets and was elected to House of Representatives on a Liberal ticket. Yuichi Kori was Parliamentary Vice-Minister of the Commodity Price Bureau.
