After graduating from Fukushima Commercial School went into the service of Columbia Recording Co in 1930 and has been with them since.
Besides composing music for folk songs and film companies Yuji Kоsеki also supplies the background music for radio plays. He was awarded NHK's Cultural Prize in 1953. Is also a proficient Hammond organist. Among his tunes are "Kane no Naru Oka", "Chu Chin Cho" and "Turan- dot".
