In 1927 joined the editorial staff of Hochi Shimbun, leaving it for the Osaka Asahi (1929) where Yukichi Kitagishi has been ever since. A prominent figure in Kansai theatrical circles, he is considered an erudite critic of the stage and Noh dances.
