Graduated from Ikubunkan Middle School. With Hidezo Kondo and others studied cartoon under Ippei Okamoto.
After the war won the hearts of many fans by such works as Hanako-san (name of a girl) or Kokakichi and Korak-o (Coca-Kichi-name of a boy and Cola-ko-name of a girl). An increasing tendency toward sarcasm has been evident in his recent works which some regard as proof of his praiseworthy efforts to reach at the essence of the art of caricature.
He has an established reputation as a cartoonist who depicts social customs with delicate touch.
