1880’s began revol work as member of first Polish workers’ revol party — “Proletariat”. Helped found and lead Social-Democratic Party of the Kingdom of Poland and Lithuania. From 1896 lived in Germany and helped Lenin found newspaper “Iskra”;December 1905 returned to Poland and took part in 1905-1907 Revol.
Attended 5th (London) Russian Social-Democratic Workers’ Party Congress. Elected candidate member, Central Committee, Russian Social-Democratic Workers’ Party. Delegation at Zurich and Stuttgart Congresses of 2nd International.
From 1909 worked mainly for German Social-Democratic Party and was one of its left-wing leaders. Helped found “Spartacus League”. Frequently arrested for revol activities.
May 1918 went to Russia. July 1918 until death member, All-Russian Central Executive Committee. 1919 member, Central Committee, German Communist Party.
1919 helped found Communist International and drafted theoretical principles of its agrarian program 1920 headed Provisional Polish Revol Committee, founded on Polish territory liberated during the Soviet-Polish War. 1923 founder and Central Committee member, International Organization(s) for Aid to Revol Fighters.
1918-1922 fulfilled various important dipt commissions for Soviet government. Took part in Soviet negotiations with Poland, Lith, Finland, Japan and China. Wrote works on economics, Polish history and international political.
