Graduate Mstislavl’ Teachers’ Training Technicum. 1931 33 studied at Literature Faculty, Gorky Teachers’ Training Institute, Minsk.
Career
Member, “Maladnyak” lit associate, then Belorussian Association of Proletarian Writers. 1926 first work printed. 1931-1932 subjected to Party criticism.
His collection “Lyrics. Epos” scheduled for the press in 1932, was not published. 1933 arrested and exiled to Tyumen’.
From 1936 in exile in Tobol’sk. 1937-1939 contributed to “Ogonyok" and helped publish Antologiya novoy angliyskoy poezii (Anthology of New English Poetry) (Leningrad, 1937). 1940 re-arrested.
