Participated in 1917 October Revol and fought in Civil War. Early 1919 commanded partisan detachment in Lithuania 1920 arrested near Daugavpils and drafted into White Army.
While serving in Ukmerg organized underground Lith Communist Party organisation. Arrested again but escaped and 1921 moved to Soviet Russia. Studied and worked as engineering
1940 after annexation of Lith, chairman, Vilnius City Executive Committee. In World War 2 founded underground “League for the Liberation of Lith”. From early 1943 secretary, underground Vilnius City Committee, Communist Party Lithuania
19 June 1943 arrested by Gestapo.
