KANNABIKH, Yuriy was born on October 5, 1872.
1896 graduate Department of Natural History, 1899 graduate Medical Faculty, Moscow University.
While still a student worked at Krepelin’s Clinic. After graduate worked as an intern at a propaedeutic clinic to obtain the knowledge of internal diseases that he deemed necessary for a psychiatrist. 1905-1909 worked at Moscow Centr Admission Unit for Mental Patients directed by A. North. Bemshteyn.
Delivered lectures on the history of psychiatry at postgraduate medical training courses for psychiatrists. Worked at Kryukovo Sanatorium for Nervous Diseases and Alekscycvskiy Psychiatric Hospital, where he became a follower of South. South. Korsekov and a specialist in ’’minor psychiatry”. 1914 defended doctor’s thesis on cyclothymia, a still valid classical study of this subject.
From 1918 associate professor, Moscow University. From 1920 professor, Chair of Psychiatry, Turkcstani University, Tashkent. 1921 returned to Moscow to read course on medical psychology, Higher Medical School, then course on psychotherapy at P. B. Gannushkin’s Clinic.
1925 read course on ’’minor psychiatry” and psychotherapy, at Postgraduate Medical Training Courses, People's Comrl of Health. From 1929 head Department of the History of Psychiatry, Institute of Neuropsychiatric Prophylaxis, People's Commissariat of Health (now Centr Institute of Psychiatry, Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic Minister of Health). From 1936 head Chair of Psychiatry, 3rd Moscow Medical Institute.
Approached psychotherapy from the Pavlovian viewpoint. Collected psychographic data on Guy de Maupassant, Dostoycvskiy and Hegel.
