1913 joined Chernigov Russian Social-Democratic Workers’ Party Committee. From 1916 in Russian Army. Revol and propaganda work among soldiers.
During 1917 October Revol member, Petrograd Military Revol Committee. Took part in the storming of the Winter Palace. December 1917 at 1st All-Ukraine Congress Soviets elected member, People's Secretariat, Ukraine Workers and Peasants’ Republic and appointed Deputy People's Seer of Military Affairs.
January 1918 appointed commander in chief of Ukraine Republic’s armed forces. 1918 at 1st Congress of Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Ukraine elected member, Central Committee, Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Ukraine. 1919 chairman, Chernigov Province Committee, Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Ukraine.
1920 member, Poltava Province Committee, Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Ukraine. Member, Poltava Province Executive Committee. 1921-1922 Ukraine dipl representative in Austria.
1927-1930 councilor, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics plenipotentiary mission in Poland. Ukraine Deputy People's Commissar of Agriculture Deputy chairman, Ukraine Council of People's Commissar.
At the same time chairman, Ukraine State Planning Committee. Member, Organization(s) Bureau, Central Committee, Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Ukraine. Repeatedly elected member, Central Committee, Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Ukraine.
Arrested by State Security organs.
Religion is bad because it doesn't give equal treatment to women and thus offends basic human rights.
