1902 graduate history and Philology Faculty, Saint St. Petersburg University.
1899 first work printed. As a poet, sided with “classical wing” of Symbolist movement. Translated Renaissance poets, Mickiewicz, Geo lyric poets, et cetera
Wrote studies on the poetry of the Pushkin period. From 1917 lectured on Russian and Western lit in Saint St. Petersburg, Tiflis, Permanent’, Tomsk, Moscow and Smolensk. During World War 2 published collection of patriotic verse “Budel tak" (So Be lieutenant) (1943).
