He graduated from the music school in accordion class (Podgorensky settlement of the Voronezh region) and Moscow boarding school No. 9, where he began to practice athletics (discus throwing, shot put). Then he comtinued his studies in Moscow Regional State Institute of Physical Culture and attended acting courses.
He made his debut in the movie in 1979 (the film "Faster than his own shadow"). On the account of Dumchev more than 60 films, among them: "Boris Godunov", "Man from the Boulevard of the Capuchins", "Taganka Walking Tanks", "Goryachev and others", "I want to go to prison", "Old Nags", "Perfect pair" , "Antikiller", "Khottabych", "It's hard to be God", "Fire Cross", "Love-carrot-2" and others. Worked in the Moscow Theater named after V.V. Mayakovsky (1990-1992).
