Career
Belanger played junior hockey in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for the Sherbrooke Castors. He was not drafted into the National Hockey League, but signed with the Cleveland Crusaders of the World Hockey Association. Belanger made his National Hockey League debut during the 1974-1975 season with the Saint Louis Blues.
In 1976, Belanger was traded to the Atlanta Flames, where he played for parts of two seasons.
He ended his National Hockey League career with the Boston Bruins during the 1979-1980 season.
