Career

Entered Confederate army April, 1864. Taken prisoner of war at Fort Fisher, North Carolina, January 15, 1865. Began practice of law in Austin, Texas, January, 1871.

Chairman commission to codify laws of Texas, 1891-1892. Democrat. Trustee State Institute for Blind, 1875-1897. Trustee public scholls, Austin, Texas, 17 years.

Fellow Texas State History Association Author: History of the Geography of Texas (chart). Also wrote: History Geography of Texas, June, 1897. Causes of the Mexican War with United States, 1900.
