He also competed in tandem events, and was aiming to ride at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics as a sighted pilot. He was killed while cycling to work along the A11 road from his home town of Attleborough towards Norwich. He was struck from behind by a motorist who was returning home from a holiday.
The driver was later sentenced to five years in prison.
The prosecution argued he was sleep-deprived after an overnight flight and fell asleep at the wheel.
