FRENKEL, Zakhariy was born in 1869.
1895 graduated Derpt, now Tartu, University.
1910 and 1913 helped organize Social Medicine Department, Russia Pavilion at International Hygiene Exhibition, Dresden, and at All-Russia Hygiene Exhibition, St. Petersburg. Co-founder and first Chairman, Leningrad Department, All-Russia Hygiene Society. Deputy Chairman, All-Union Society of Hygienists.
Works deal with public hygiene, public health, demography and public health statistics. 1902-1909 Head, Medicine Statistics Bureau, Vologda, then Kostroma Gubemiya Zemstvo. 1913-1920 lecturer and 1920-1938 Professor, of Social Hygiene, Leningrad Psychoneurological Institute.
1930-1934 simultaneously Head, Hygiene Section, All-Union Institute of Experimental Medicine. 1934-1952 Professor, Chair of Social and Communal Hygiene, Laningrad Postgraduate Medicine Institute.
