Zhuang ZI a dukedom formed by the descendants of the Shang people who had been conquered by the Zhou. He lived around the 4th to the 3rd century BC and was mild to have been the insignificant manager of a lacquer tree grove. Most stories about his life come from the book tided Zhuang Zi that is attributed to him, though the extant version appears to contain writings of later authors of varying philosophical bent.
Career
Zhuang Zi’s principal influence comes from his philosophy of ziran, ‘nature’ or ‘natural statue' (literally,'self-so'). Zhuang Zi is often juxtaposed with another great thinker, Lao Zi, another legendary founder of Daoism, due largely to their common emphasis on the concept of ziran.
