From 1894 teacher in Nizhniy Novgorod and member, Social-Democratic group. 1895 moved to Saint St. Petersburg. Active member, Lenin’s League for the Liberation of the Working Class.
1896 arrested; 1897 exiled to Nizhniy Novgorod, 1898 to Siberia. Signed Lenin's “Protest of Russian Social-Democrats," and directed against the Economists. 1901, while with G. M. Krzhizhanovskiy in Samara, represented “Iskra” (The Spark) in Volga and Ural Regions.
1902 sccr, Russian “Iskra” organisation. Carried out important assignments for Central Committee, Russian Social-Democratic Workers’ Party. From 1917 worked for Moscow Oblast Soviet, then for People's Commissariat of Education.
