During the 1930s, many times skating champion of Moscow and the USSR. Honoured Master of Sports (skating), 1934. Surgeon, 19401952, and from 1953 head of the Sports and Ballet Injuries Department of the Central Institute of Traumatism and Orthopedy. Chief traumatologist with the Soviet team at the Olympic Games, 1952-1976.
Professor of Sports Medicine from 1967. Member of the USSR Olympic Committee from 1974. Member of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Olympic Medical Workers from 1974.
Awarded the Philipp Noel-Baker Prize by the International Union of Physical Education and Sport, 1975.
