Dr. Zonglie Hong is a researcher and educator in biochemistry.
He obtained his B.Sc. in Agronomy from Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, China, and started his graduate study in Plant Biochemistry Graduate in China Agricultural University. He was awarded a scholarship to study abroad and obtained both M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Biochemistry from the University of Novi Sad, Serbia. He did his Postdoctoral training in Molecular Genetics and was promoted to Senior Research Associate in the Ohio State University. He took a tenure-track faculty position in Biochemistry and was promoted through the ranks from assistant professor, associate professor to full professor in the University of Idaho.
Dr. Hong started as a Postdoctoral Fellow and became a Senior Research Associate in the Department Molecular Genetics and Plant Biotechnology Center in the Ohio State University. He took a regular faculty position in Biochemistry in the University of Idaho. He advises graduate students for M.Sc. and PhD degrees, trains Postdoctoral Fellows, and hosts research visits of scholars from collaborating institutions. He is Participating Faculty of the Center for Reproductive Biology at Washington State University and University Idaho, and Participating Investigator at the Consortium of Functional Glycomics, Scripps Research Institute, since 2005.
Member of the American Association for Advancement of Science (AAAS), the American Society Plant Biologists (ASPB), and the North American Arabidopsis Steering Committee (NAASC).
