Career
Trained as a Zen priest of the Rinzai Sect, he was well versed in Confucianism and Chinese literature. He presided over the Ashikaga School fo r about 80 years. His directorship coincided with the heyday of the school. At one time, students coming there from all parts of the country totalled 3,000.
