Abby Robinson received a Bachelor of Arts in Art and Architectural History from Barnard College, New York, in 1970. She earned a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York, in 1974.
In the 1980s Abby Robinson was a contributing writer and photographer for the Soho Weekly News. She also taught at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
A freelance photographer since 1973, Abby Robinson taught at Rutgers University, New Jersey, in 1979, and was a consultant to the Center for Arts Information, New York, in 1977. Of her work Robinson says: "I have been concentrating on three series: body parts and gestures, small figures in landscapes (the figure as an intruder or visitor) and an ongoing self-portrait series."
