Seibi received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 1985. Three years later he earned his Master of Science degree in Engineering Science and Mechanics from the same university. Also in 1993, Abdennour was given a Ph.D. in Engineering Science and Mechanics from Pennsylvania State University.
Seibi began his career as a teaching assistant of the Engineering Science and Mechanics Department at Pennsylvania State University in 1985. Three years later he took the position of a research assistant at Applied Research Laboratory at that university. Then in 1990, Abdennour became a research fellow at the Federal Higway Administration. In 1993, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the same administration.
He served as an assistant and associate professor at Sultan Qaboos University from 1993 to 2004. In 2004, Seibi was appointed an associate professor of Mechanical Engineering Department at Petroleum Institute. Then in 2011, he held the position of an operations director at Borouge Pte. In 2013, Abdennour became a professor of practice in the Petroleum Engineering Department at the University of Louisiana. Since 2015 Abdennour has been an associate professor at the same university. He is currently working on downhole tubular expansion as well as on integrity-related problems.
Seibi is a member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Society of Petroleum Engineers, LAGCOE Advisory Board and API Advisory Board.
On May 25, 1991 Abdennour Seibi married Laila Hamda Boukadi. They have three children.
