Abdul has written hundreds of stories, in English Language and Malay Language and participated in more than 60 art exhibitions. Abdul Ghani Abdul Hamid was born on April 13, 1933 in Kampung Siglap (now Kampung Bahru), East Coast Road, Singapore. While studying in secondary school, he would poems and articles penned by himself to local Malay newspapers and magazines and also held his inaugural art exhibition during a Youth Festival.
After his studies, he worked as an apprentice of the Electrical Department of Keppel Harbour.
After which, Abdul found a job as a clerk at the Public Utilities Board (PUB), then known as the Singapore Municipality. He left the PUB in 1988.
