Taken prisoner by the Germans during World War II. After the war in DP camps in Germany. For 30 years taught Russian and Soviet history. Wrote several important studies of modern Soviet history, including, Tekhnologiia Vlasti, 1976, Frankfurt/ Main, which was re-issued in the Soviet Union by samizdat, and by the
special publishing house for Communist Party apparatchiks.
Lives in West Germany.
