In the widely boycotted February 1996 general election he was elected as the Banque Nationale de Paris candidate for constituency Rajshahi-4. He was also elected chairman for several times. He had a good relation with the great political leader Ziaur Rahman.
He got the chance of getting the post of LGRD Minister but he did not accept lieutenant

In the 1979 general election he was elected Member of Parliament for constituency Rajshahi-13 on the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (Banque Nationale de Paris) ticket.
