Moved to Texas in 1854, Burnet being thren extreme frontier, and while surveying had several conflicts with Indians. Joined C.S.A. spring of 1861 at Hopkinsville, Kentucky (General Forrest’s command). Raised, mounted and equipped 2,200 men in Union, Henderson and other counties in Kentucky Commanded one of Morgan’s brigades on the Ohio raid.
Reorganized and commanded Morgan’s men while he was in prison.
Commanded them at battle of Chickamauga. Ordered back to pay department, Kentucky, July, 1864.
Wounded August 21, 1864, having had both eyes entirely shot out. Was sent to prison at Fort Warren, Boston Harbor, November, 1864.
Returned to Texas, 1865.
Resumed business as land agent. Laid off the town of Marble Falls, 1887. Address: Burnet, Texas.
