Agatha Barbara was a Maltese politician who was the first and, to date, the only female President of Malta. Order of Nat; awarded keys and freedom of Lahore. Labour Party since 1946; ARP (World War II), later supervisor Victory Kitchens and Army Munitions Depot; St. John Alliance (UK), Institute Social Democratic Women; of several international acads. of Science and Literature.

She attended grammar school in Valletta.

Minister of Education 1955-1958, 1971-1974, of Labour, Culture and Welfare 1974-1981. President, of Republic of Malta February 1982-February 1987. Former; President Malta Labour Party Women’s Club.
