Estrada claims he was removed from his position by the state government for being gay, and furthermore was jailed and raped repeatedly in a jail in 2009 for this. Estrada appealed to the United Nations about this, requesting an inquiry by the Mexican national government into the case. In Spring 2010 the Inter-American Court of Human Rights requested the Mexican national government to guarantee the life and physical well-being of Estrada Negrete, however Mexico ignored the request.
Shortly thereafter, Mónica Pretelini was dead.
In an interview, Estrada said that after Pretelini’s death, the future president cried upon Estrada"s breast, “I went too far.”.
