Background

Ajay Kumar was born in 1979 in Satna, Madhya Pradesh, India.

Education

Ajay Kumar Tamrakar received a degree of Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Rewa Engineering College, Rewa in 2001. He scored All India 2nd rank in GATE-2001 with 99.98 percentile. Based on this score, he obtained a degree of Master of Technology from country's premier research institution, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore in 2004.

Career

During tenure at IISc, his work interests were smart materials, multifunctional composites, multi-body dynamics etc. He worked on active fiber composites and presented several research papers during Sept 2004-Dec 2006 in national and international conferences. He qualified UPSC's Combined Engineering Services Examination (CESE)-2002 and was posted by Govt of India as Assistant Director under Central Power Engineering Services (CPES) in Central Electricity Authority in September 2004. Later on, he qualified CESE-2005 and received prestigious Indian Railway's Services of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME). After serving Northern Railway till Oct'10, he is presently serving West Central Railway as Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer at Jabalpur.

He has co-authored a book, titled "Wiley Acing the GATE Mechanical Engineering" with Dr. Dineshkumar Harursampath, Assistant Professor, Department of Aerospace Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. The book is recently released by the publisher Wiley India at New Delhi World Book Fair 2014.
