Ajiki Rikken was born in 1650 in Yamashiro (Kyoto Prefecture). He was a descendant of Michinaga Fujiwara, influential adviser to the Emperor in the Heian Period.

Ajiki Rikken was born in 1650 in Yamashiro (Kyoto Prefecture). He was a descendant of Michinaga Fujiwara, influential adviser to the Emperor in the Heian Period.
He studied Confucian literature under Mokuan Nawa and then under Soko Yamagi in Yedo, besides learning martial arts under his father.
Distinguished for his retentive memory and inquisitiveness, he was employed by the Lord of Aki (Hiroshima Prefecture), stayed there for 33 years to devote himself to the education of youths of the clan.
