In 1942 Akikuni Masuda became director of Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun and then its president. She held various additional posts including those of president of Nihon Fujin Shimbun (Japan Women's Newspaper), Shin-Nihon Insatsu (New Japan Printing) Company, Masuda Kensetsu (Construction) Company and Kanko (Tourist Industry) Company.
