In 1849 succeeded his father-in-law, Terasu, as Lord of Hirado Clan of Nagasaki Prefecture. In 1879-88 was an instructor to Akinomiya (Emperor Taisho) and then to Tsune-no-Miya (consort of Prince Takeda) (1888-89). Was created Count and nominated to House of Peers.
