Radio actor, 1926-1950. Straight man for Eddie Cantor, Bob Hope, Bert Lahr, Jimmy Durante, Al Jolson. Original daddy to Fanny Brice’s Baby Snooks.

Played Falstaff Openshaw on Allen’s Alley. Role as Pasquale in Life with Luigi. Actor in many soap operas including Myrt and Marge, Valiant Lady, The Goldbergs.

Stage credits include Love’s Old Sweet Song, Hope for a Harvest, The Pirate, Merry Wives of Windsor. Has appeared in over 50 motion pictures. Film credits include Viva Zapata, Postman Always Rings Twice, Breakfast at Tiffanys, Dream of Kings.

Announcer television commercials. Voice of Fred Flintstone on The Flintstones and Pebbles and Bam-Bam cartoon series. Founder Alan Reed Enterprises, specialty advertising, 1954.
